Building the YWCC Capstone and RWC Web Platform

By Jay Singh

A shared platform, three independent websites

The NJIT Ying Wu College of Computing (YWCC) is home to two distinct but related initiatives: the Industry Capstone Program, which connects undergraduate student teams with sponsor companies for real-world projects, and the Real World Connections (RWC) program, which gives middle and high school students hands-on experience with companies, alumni, and NJIT faculty. Both programs needed modern web presences. Neither had the budget for three separate, from-scratch builds.

This article explains how we delivered three production websites — the Capstone Sponsors site, RWC US, and RWC International — from a single shared codebase, each operating on its own independent Sanity CMS license and Cloudflare account, at a combined operating cost of just $15/month.

Project 1: YWCC Capstone Sponsors Website

The Capstone Sponsors site is the flagship deliverable. Led by Team A (3 members), it serves as both a public marketing site that attracts industry sponsors and an authenticated sponsor portal where signed-in sponsors can track their projects, view events, and manage engagement.

What it includes:

  • A homepage with hero carousel, program stats, sponsor logos, and featured projects
  • Industry project showcase with technology filtering and detail pages
  • Sponsorship opportunities with tier comparison and inquiry forms
  • Research and development content, testimonials, and success stories
